Dear _____,

It has been nearly a week since the destructive winds and rains of Hurricane _____ made landfall in of OurTown. The gale force winds ripped the roofs off of homes, uprooted trees and brought down power lines in our hometown. While some members of the community were blessed to have their homes and personal property spared, many members of OurTown suffered crippling losses from the storm.

Down on Main St., all of the businesses were forced to close their doors and many lost some or their entire inventory in the aftermath of the storm. The dunes and boardwalks that normally draw thousands of tourists from all over the state and drive vital business to OurTown during the summer months have been completely destroyed in the wake of the massive waves and storm surge. The total cost to the local economy is still being calculated and many experts suspect that the total impact will run into the tens of millions of dollars.

Though local businesses and infrastructure have been critically damaged, the residents that call of OurTown home have shouldered the heaviest toll. The foundations of houses along the OurRiver were critically damaged from the rising waters. Fallen limbs and trees smashed cars and roofs all across downtown. An entire neighborhood along the beach was flooded with an 8 ft. storm surge-even.The homes that were left standing need to be completely gutted due to the risk of mold.

We are thankful for the many organizations and charities from across the country have pledged their support to our community, however our neighbors in need require assistance NOW. OurOrganization is a local 501(c)(3) charity and has always been able to help quickly where needed.

Unlike donations to national organizations that can take months to begin distributing funds, your support to us will have an immediate and substantial impact in OurTown. With your help, OurOrganization can feed families who have lost everything in the aftermath of the storm, give them a warm place to stay and help rebuild the landmarks that make of OurTown such an amazing place to live.

Will you help get OurTown on its feet again as quickly as possible?

Here are a few ways that you can help:

  • A donation of $25 dollars will help provide emergency meals, blankets and shelter to a family displaced from the storm
  • A donation of $100 dollars will ensure that 4 local families will have a safe place to stay and a warm meal
  • A donation of $500 dollars will help repair the dunes and boardwalk that drives local business

Any amount you decide to donate will be very much appreciated and will make a huge difference in the lives of our neighbors whose lives have been upended. Together, we can restore of OurTown to the place that we all know and love.

Very Best,

J. Smith
